Unless there are urgent circumstances, the Prayer Book says Baptisms are to be conducted with the normal Church services. This is usually done as part of the Sunday Morning Holy Communion Service, at both Coolangatta and Palm Beach, on one Sunday each month.
As much notice as possible should be given, but not less that two weeks. Arrangements for family gatherings should not be made until the date for the Baptism has been confirmed by the Parish.
The Parish Priest and/or a Baptism Team member will then visit the family to make the arrangements. Please note: The Prayer Book and Diocesan Parish Regulation Canon asks for a minimum of three Godparents, all of whom must be Baptised. A Booklet about Baptism is available from the Parish Office, or by phoned request. There is no charge for Baptisms.
CONFIRMATIONS: Click for Photos
Confirmations are arranged when there are 5 or 6 people ready for that Sacrament. Those seeking Confirmation should be adults or young people from about the age of 15 years, baptised or not. When a suitable sized group is formed, the Bishop is contacted for a date when he can come to administer this rite. There will be about six weeks of classes before the Confirmation (usually one session of about two hours per week) Contact Fr Ken Spreadborough on 5534 2115.
MARRIAGES: Click for Photos
Marriages are celebrated at both Churches at mutually acceptable times. By Law, 31 days notice must be given, but it is usually practical for the arrangements to be made much further in advance. Once you have contacted the Parish Office, the Parish Priest will arrange to meet with you to discuss the arrangements more fully. The basic cost of a wedding at either Church is $300, not including flowers, music, printing of service sheets, etc.
FUNERALS:
The Parish Priest is available to lead funeral services at either Church, South Tweed or Allambe (Nerang) Crematoria, at the Graveside or other suitable places.
If you make your wishes re venue known to the Funeral Director he/she will contact the Parish Priest who will make an appointment to visit the family and together arrange the actual service. Costs are usually included in the total funeral expenses presented by the Funeral Director, and are normally about $120.
